Moving forward with the exploration of continuing legal education’s (CLE) intersection with Social Media, I turned my attention to LinkedIn. A search for “continuing legal education” returned 26 groups and over 2,000 people! A fertile ground for discussing issues related to mandatory continuing legal education (MCLE) issues. I may have kept the best for last.
Demonstrating the power of social media across platforms, an inquiry on Twitter
Rendered this video within minutes from Viveka von Rosen, fittingly known as LinkedInExpert
And elicited the following comment on Facebook from a friend who saw this unfold:
“Very impressive display earlier by @LinkedInExpert in showing how to create a group on LinkedIn! Her ability to create a great how-to video on the fly was amazing.
Using the video as a guide I created the Mandatory Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) group in minutes.
“The MCLE LinkedIn Group seeks to explore and discuss issues affecting continuing legal education providers, educators, administrators and professionals. It expands on topics at uMCLE.com such as uniform rules and regulations and social media and on other CLE related listservs, blogs, websites, Facebook and Twitter.
Next up, in short order is starting a discussion around a topic of interest, inviting other CLE professionals on LinkedIn to participate and creating subgroups. Stay tuned.
As with Twitter and Facebook, and other social media platforms, my exploration of LinkedIn is not about a perfect engagement or an ultimate destination, it’s entirely about the journey. Would love to have you join me.
