Why Should uMCLE.com Have a Facebook Fan Page?

The uMCLE Facebook Fan Page has just been created with the purpose of aggregating information from uMCLE.com and other continuing legal education (CLE) resources  to provide a vibrant resource center and community for attorneys, CLE presenters and providers and other legal and education professionals….. I hope.

Facebook, as with most social media platforms is not terribly intuitive and in fact, often frustrating and difficult to navigate when trying to optimize your experience.  And the Fan Page is no exception.

So, I’ve decided to start a Facebook Fan Page series of blog posts where I’ll share my experience hoping to accomplish two things.  One, to provide a tutorial to help you avoid some of the aches and pains (no one can escape it entirely) I encounter, and two, to ask you for help in building the Page.

Why create a uMCLE Facebook Fan page?  Because everyone said I should and the chorus of yays kept getting louder.  But also due to a growing desire to use the tools that are available to me.

Social media discussions happen with great frequency on Twitter, perhaps greater than on any other platform.  I credit Twitter’s facility, the access, the opportunity for  real-time conversations.

But social media, numbingly, encompasses so much more , a vast sea of platforms and applications, even interpretations beyond Twitter.  In my quest to traverse the full spectrum, I’ve been increasingly burdened to give Facebook and perhaps LinkedIn and other platforms more than cursory considerations for developing a professional presence.

So, I’ve covered peer pressure and the grating horror of not using available tools.  Another, is to expand and integrate the community beyond Twitter.  And finally, unlike much of Facebook which is hidden behind a login,  Fan Pages are public and indexed by search engines, increasing awareness and traffic.

Coming up:  How to create a Facebook Fan page and What content should it contain.  I welcome and appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Not sure why “comments closed” for this post.  Working on getting it reversed.
